Huzzah! Bertie Ahern, head of the Irish government, has resigned. He's a crook, and should never have lasted as long in power as he did.

I found his brother's comment amusing, on being asked what he thought of Bertie's decision to resign:

He's usually right in the decisions he makes

I would think he definitely is not right in the decisions he makes - that decision he made to accept £450,00 in brown envelopes was probably pretty wrong.

Huzzah indeed - my only concern is that the Uber Crook Bertie will be replaced by another crook as long as Fianna Fail are in power, the government will be corrupt.

Well true - that's almost inevitable - and in all honesty I get the feeling that most of them are corrupt. However, I've always felt embarrassed when I see Bertie speaking in an international setting.

Bumbling, mumbling, incomprehensible (apparently he's charismatic, but I don't see it...)
