QotD: I Left My Heart in...

Lots of sky! Nice! How's the light pollution and the night sky then? Do you see lots of stars?

My husband and I live a ways from a major city, but it's still a residential area with a lot of house and street lights, so star-gazing can be kind of limited. That's just a minor complaint though. Otherwise, I love it here. More stars sure would be nice though.
Hey Seph,

Light pollution is pretty minimalistic. The closest city/town is called Longford, and it's about a 20 minute drive away. You can make out some orange in the distance at night, but generally star viewing is absolutely amazing.

I haven't gotten any good star photos yet, but I do have a nice one of the moon showing a full corona. I'll get that up here soon.

It's mental how much difference a few lights makes to the star viewing potential. Fortunately there's still a good few areas in Ireland which are pretty pitch black at night.

Today there are rabbits running all around the place. Spring is definitely here.
[this is good]
So are living off the grid? How much acreage do you have (land area)? Are you renting? Solar power? Near by water streams or lakes? Woods? Fields? And what price we lookin at? Lets talk. I added you on Jaiku. Also if you have Skype my name is "adamgenesis". Lateron!
Hi

Well yeah, we're on the local grid, it's a rented house. About a half acre of land. No solar power, a near by stream (about 30 ft from the house) and it's costing us €600 a month for the whole place.

I'm pretty happy here I must say. Still, I'd prefer to own my own place, then all the solar power and other alternative energy things become possible :)
