What about an export?

I'd follow!

I don't know, maybe some sort of RSS feed?
Hey :)

Thanks for the support. Indeed I'd have an RSS feed, in fact there's already one there.

I don't know where I'd be without Google Reader these days. No way I'd keep track of everything :)
I'm in the same boat. :-/
The only thing I've been able to come up with in order to avoid copying and pasting is as follows:

In (just as an example) WordPress you're able to import another source's RSS feed. However the RSS feed is limited to the last 10 posts. So, what I was thinking was that I could import the 10 most recent posts, then delete those 10 posts from Vox. In theory (I assume this to be true), my Vox RSS feed would now contain the prior 10 posts. Do an import again, and I've imported 20 posts reasonably easily. Repeat 20 times or so and I've gotten through my approximate 200 posts.

Does this sound feasible to anyone.

I'm nearly finished a new design over on alex.leonard.ie and will be unveiling it in the next week or two. It's coming together very nicely :)
I'm testing out www.blogbackuponline.com - I'll report back with results.
Alex, I found your post by searching google for how to export from Vox. Dying to know if the RSS feed thingy worked. Sounds totally feasible -- please let me know!! And of course, if blogbackuponline worked, too!
[this is not good]
Did you ever figure out a way to export from Vox, Alex? I'm in the same boat as well. I've been copying/pasting only my "greatest hits," but even that takes a long time, since Vox adds in all sorts of extraneous coding that I then have to strip out.

Frankly, an export feature is something they should have had built in AT LAUNCH, not "be working on" (according to a post at getsatifaction.com) some 2 and a half years after debut.

yeah, no export. such a bummer. a gated community without an exit. :-(
i tried the blogsonlie backup and it only backups the last 10 as the rss feed shows
@Snobohm It should definitely back up absolutely everything - however it can take quite a while. I remember when I started it I thought it wasn't working but when I came back to it a day or two later everything was there fully backed up.

this is excellent! thank you so so much!
A question though, will we be able to import this into other blog hosts like wordpress?
FYI - I'm in the process of picking up where Vox left off, and building my own Vox export tool. I've successfully done the back-end (i.e. it downloads all the public posts from a blog and converts it into a wordpress WXR file) and am touching up the front-end (i.e. what a user would see) and am going to have people start testing it soon. If you're interested, keep an eye out on my blog for details as the program goes public.
As I said in my other comment - keep an eye out on my Vox blog for an announcement in the near future about a Vox export tool to take your Vox blog and be able to import to Wordpress (or other blogs that can use the WXR format).
FANTASTIC, Ross... Would love to test it for you!
Wow, that sounds great Ross. Look forward to hearing about that and would also be happy to do any testing you need done.
